Hi Lore

Hi Lore! I hope you are excited for your new calling as a Primary Chorister! You are going to do a fantastic job! I used this blog in the past to post all of my lesson plans for the past year. In addition to my lessons, I also posted some links in the sidebar for some ladies that have some great ideas as well.

The Primary Presidency likes to have a heads-up of what your lesson is prior to Sunday. I used this blog to post my lesson and communicate it with the presidency. You could either do a blog like this or just send them an email with what you have planned. Your choice! =)

Every month, you will be teaching the kids a new song for the Primary Program. The songs that you will be teaching are posted in the sidebar. After the program is over, you can plan and sing whatever you want for the rest of the year.

At the start of Primary on Sunday, I would place a little 3x5 card on the piano to give Heidi a heads-up of the songs that she would be playing and what the lesson plan was for the day. You could do the same or whatever you want just to make sure that Thelissa knows what the gameplan is. Here is an example of what I would write on the card:

Charadoke (Intro Week)

Opening Song: The Church of Jesus Christ (C.S.#77)
Welcome Song: Here We Are Together (C.S. #261)
Wiggle Song (Jr. Primary): Book of Mormon Stories (C.S.#118)
Singing Time: The Fourth Article of Faith (C.S.#124)

This week, we are going to learn "The Fourth Article of Faith." I will teach the kids using picture prompts explaining the meaning of the lyrics. To practice the song, we will play Charadoke (a combination of Charades and Karaoke). I will ask 4 kids to come up and will assign each of them a line in the song and something to act out. Everyone will sing the song and the kids at the front will act out something when it comes to their line in the song. At the end of the song, we will try to guess what each kid was acting out!

For this year's incentive, I told the kids that we would be working towards a Fruit Pizza party. Once the kids would learn a song "program perfect," they would earn a part of the fruit pizza. Program perfect means that they would have to be able to sing the song without picture prompts, knowing all the words, and following cut-off and stand-up/sit-down prompts from you. Since this upcoming Sunday is going to be the last Sunday in the month, you should see if you can get the kids to pass of this month's song. If they can, great, if not, you can work on it later in the year in order to pass it off. Here's an example:

Jan Song: Sugar Cookie
Feb Song: Whip Cream
Mar Song: Strawberries
Apr Song: Kiwis
May Song: Tangerines
Jun Song: Bananas
Jul Song: Pineapple
Aug Song: Peaches

The thought was that if they can earn each of these, then the Sunday of the Primary Program, the kids could have Fruit Pizza as their reward during Singing Time. Basically, you would just make a big batch of sugar cookies, cover them with whip cream (like sauce to a pizza), and then have cut up fruit available for the kids to put on them. The kids were really excited about the idea.

You are going to do a fantastic job! Have fun!!! If you need anything, just let me know! =)
